Personal Watercraft (PW), commonly referred to as Jetskis, are fantastic and fun craft on which to go exploring. Small, lightweight and easily manoeuvrable, they are fast and exciting but need to be handled with care.

Whether you want to have a go on holiday or buy your own machine, our Personal Watercraft Proficiency course will teach you how to get the best from it and stay safe on the water.

Many UK harbours require PW riders to hold an RYA qualification to launch. You may also need an RYA certificate or ICC if you want to use your PW abroad.

RYA PWC Jet Ski Course is designed for first time and experienced riders alike who want to safely ride jet skis in open waters and to improve their skills..

The one day course teaches the rider to act responsibly as well as enjoying the thrill of speed on the water.

The course take place over one day and can be taken either on a centre's craft or your own.

  • Pre-course experience: None
  • Duration: 1 day
  • 12 (candidates aged 12-16 must only use PWs under the supervision of a responsible adult and their certificate will be endorsed accordingly)

Launching, handling and recovery skills, passage planning and decision making, high and low speed riding skills, essential safety information, collision avoidance and orientation at sea, weather, safety & courtesy to others, emergencies, rules of the road, essential navigation, aftercare.

It's recommended to take RYA Essential Navigation And Seamanship course The course can be taken online, and is a basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, powerboaters, jetskier, sea anglers, divers and boatmasters. Also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.

If you decide to take the course online, you will find many interactive exercises to help reinforce the information and lots of chances to try out what you've learned.
