Mechanical failure is the main cause of rescue call-outs to cruisers. Basic maintenance and engine care will help ensure that you are not part of this statistic.

Most engine problems can be avoided by taking simple precautions, and you don’t need a detailed mechanical knowledge. The RYA Diesel Engine course is designed to teach yachtsmen to be more self-sufficient.

This course teaches you how your engine works, how to keep it healthy by using basic checks and maintenance procedures, and how to get it started again in the event of a breakdown. Learn how to make simple diagnosis, repairs and checks required of you as a yacht skipper.

For this diesel engine course, you will also spend time on a yacht around the engine compartment and simulate or even complete a full engine service!

You will have the chance to see exactly how a diesel engine works by way of a cut away demonstration engine as well as get some real hands on experience with a real engine on a yacht.

Whether you sail a yacht with an auxiliary diesel engine or are a motor cruising enthusiast, this course could not just save you money, but one day could save your life.

Course is usually run on a Friday.
